Hey there, I’m Sal, from Sal Petrassi Muscle & Myotherapy! My clinic is based in Floraville, NSW, Australia.
Just wanted to jump in with a quick introduction before I get started on my new blog.
I’m 47 years old. A mum of 3 (4 if you count our pooch, Maloo).
I have been accused of being goofy, a bit weird with comments left of centre (Sally-isms, my family call it), go off on tangents, think I’m funny but not (so my husband says), because he thinks I am way too serious! But I make no apologises for that, as I take what I love very seriously.
It’s this kind of intensity that makes me good at what I do. And I’m sure you will find that out more as you get to know me.
Health, fitness and the body has been such a large part of my life for as long as I can remember.
First, as a keen sports girl, playing netball, volleyball, softball, tennis you name it. But that lightning bolt drive hit me hard, when I was introduced to martial arts. It was so exhilarating and empowering with actual science behind functional movement, and best of all it embodied all facets of the body, mind and soul. I was hooked! It was exactly what I needed.
Within 4 years I had my 1st degree black belt. And in those years, I competed in many state and national tournaments, dominating my weight class, and my grade with patterns, whilst also showing true promise with power (board) breaking. And so it was, the door then opened to International competition. I was in the big leagues now!!!!

This intense type of elite training molded me to what would follow on after in my career choices, teaching me:
- muscle health & conditioning
- speed and agility
- mental strength
- and most importantly flexibility
- diet too, but being young and naive at the time, more of that came later.
This gave me access to a large group of health professionals too (physios, chiros, massage therapists, personal trainers, mindset coaching, and a nutritionist) I learnt so much right here!
My achievements and accolades on the international circuit I will save for another blog. But I will say, it was definitely something I’m very proud of.

With all the knowledge and experience I had now gained, it was inevitable my passion would align with a new working career as well. So first becoming a Certified Personal Trainer, running 1 on 1 Personal Training sessions, small group strength & fitness classes, in and out of the water, and of course boxing and kickboxing classes, (always a fan favourite amongst the group). And continued on branching out into the online world with fitness and nutrition challenges.

My classes consisted of all age groups, from kids as young as 7 years up to seniors in their 70’s. This gave me a wide spread of experience working with many different body types, injuries, conditions and disabilities… which lead me down the path of rehabilitation and recovery type sessions as well.
After 5 years in the fitness industry and doing it pretty tough at times in such a flooded market, I still yearned for more learning, I still felt there was more I could do to help.
I remembered thinking, gees I do alright with the massaging, I think I would be a good massage therapist, with what I already know. I even did a short 8 week course through WEA about 15 years ago lol. I only didn’t progress because I had bills to pay and trips overseas to worry about. But now, was a different story. It’s was time!! Time to hit the books again.
And that was it, I found my place in the world, I love what I do, and I’m always looking for more to learn and value add to my clinic, hence now I’m also a qualified Myotherapist, Dry Needling & Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapist. And I’m still not done yet.

As soon as I opened my new business in Feb 2020 it boomed, and it continues to exceed expectations. I am very content and very humbled, and excited for what the future holds.
Every person that I treat is very important to me, has their own unique circumstances and special needs, and there is no greater reward than seeing the difference I can make to my client’s, family and friends quality of life.
I don’t proclaim to know everything, I don’t have uni degrees, I just have a shit load of practical knowledge and a tenacious approach to finding the answers I need.
It is so great to meet you!! I can’t wait to hear your comments and to help you on your way to good muscle health.
I hope you enjoy Muscle Talk with Sal xx
